The Pet Food Bank

Nobody should have to surrender a family member because money got tight.

Why It Exists

Every week, animals are surrendered to shelters for one heartbreaking reason: their people love them, but can't afford to feed them right now. A lost job, a medical bill, a bad season — and a dog who's slept at the foot of the bed for eight years ends up in a kennel run.

The Oaks Pet Food Bank exists to stand in that gap. We give free pet food to owners in hardship, so animals stay with the families who love them instead of being surrendered. And we mean all of God's creatures: dogs and cats, yes — and also rabbits, horses and pet livestock, reptiles — any creature that needs fed. It's a simple idea, and around here it's the heart of the whole ministry: keep families together, two legs and four.

How It Works

Where It Stands

The food bank is in formation. The ministry was re-founded in Arkansas in October 2026, and our first distributions are planned for winter 2026–27. Distribution days, times, and how to request help will be posted here as they're set..

But hear this plainly: you don't have to wait for a distribution day. If your animals need food now, reach out through our Contact page and tell us what's going on. We're a small family ministry and our means are limited — we can't promise to meet every need. But we'll do what we can, even if it means running to Walmart and buying a bag of food ourselves.

Once our federal 501(c)(3) recognition is approved, larger supply partnerships open up — national programs that move donated pet food to ministries like ours at no cost. That pipeline is one more reason the paperwork matters, and it's coming.

Sealed bags and cases of food for any creature — dog and cat food, rabbit and livestock feed, reptile food — is the lifeblood of this program. If you'd like to give food or help run a food drive at your church or workplace, get in touch. To give financially, see our Give page — and please read the honest note there about our tax status first.
